Travel Creator Says Kyrgyz Tourism Officials Responded After Horse-Trek Harassment Report
The Instagram user said she accepted the apology and was told measures would be taken to help prevent similar incidents, though no details were provided.

A travel creator posting on Instagram as @journeyious says her account of being harassed during a horse trek in Kyrgyzstan prompted a response from the country's tourism authorities, who located the man involved and arranged a video apology, according to the caption shown in a screenshot of her post.
The creator said she initially shared her experience to raise awareness, without expecting officials to intervene. Her update, headed "The power of SOCIAL MEDIA," describes how the account reached the department she identified as the Kyrgyz Tourism Department.
"When I shared the story about what happened on my horse trek, I thought it would just raise awareness," she wrote. "But it eventually reached the Kyrgyz Tourism Department, and they decided to track down the man who harassed me."
An Apology and a Promise of Further Steps
In the caption, @journeyious thanked the account @tourism_gov_kg for its involvement. She said the man was made to apologize in a video and that she accepted his apology. She also said she had been told steps would be taken to help prevent similar incidents.
"One Bad Encounter Doesn't Erase That"
Despite the experience, the creator emphasized that it had not changed her affection for Kyrgyzstan. She said she had visited three times and described it as her favorite country.
"The kindness of strangers, the open doors when I hitchhiked, the warmth I've been shown... that's what defines this place for me," she wrote. "One bad encounter doesn't erase that."
Her update draws a clear distinction between holding an individual accountable and judging an entire destination. Alongside her report of harassment, she chose to highlight the hospitality she said she had experienced during her visits.
From Raising Awareness to Seeking Accountability
The post presents social media as the route through which her experience reached officials. According to the creator, what began as an effort to raise awareness led to direct contact with the man involved, an apology and assurances of preventive action.
The update leaves the nature and implementation of those promised measures unclear. Its central message, however, is one of accountability: the creator welcomed the response while making clear that the incident did not define her view of Kyrgyzstan.
